Resistencia desde la cocina: cuando comer sin generar sufrimiento es la opción más obvia y deliciosa

The first book written by Casa Virupa could not be predictable. We don't know how to adapt to our liquid, hyper-productive times while being a millennial retreat and meditation centre. We don't know how a person with privileges can consider themselves a lover of animals and of the earth and not be vegan. Nor do we know how eating vegan can be dull: simply, that doesn't happen in our house. Nor do we know how to speak of the Dharma only in a meditation hall, or how spiritual practice doesn't seep into everyday gestures: into how we relate to others, how we consume, where we work. For these reasons our first book could not be predictable, and it presents much of our passions, concerns and commitments.

Resistencia desde la cocina brings together the most common, delicious and celebrated vegan recipes in our community. But it is not only a recipe book: it includes a conversation with the resident teacher of Casa Virupa, Lama Norbu, in which he speaks about our commitment to community life; the relationship between Buddhism and social activism; the opportunity to make cultivating a vegetable garden an experience for integrating impermanence, or the importance of becoming aware of the suffering our lives cause to other beings. An enjoyable and interesting conversation that reflects the way of speaking about spirituality so characteristic of Lama Norbu: close, free of taboos and frank. And, as we say in the manifesto, this book is a declaration of the obvious and a commitment to life, to what has always been. It is also a love letter to hedonism, a defence of the pleasure of talking about food while eating it. A vindication of endless after-dinner conversations and of indulging ourselves as epicures in our stomachs and in our values. Nothing new under this sun.
Furthermore, and given the importance of objects in the tradition we practise, we wanted to take particular care of the book's aesthetics. That is why we have the editorial design of the studio Vera Tamayo, the photographs of Marc Castellvi (Abuela Studio), the excellent printing of Nova Era Publicaciones and the original illustrations of Guillem Arderius. So this is not only a book with delicious recipes; it is also a book-object of considerable aesthetic value.
The book can already be purchased through our website, to arrive at your home in no time, so you can start enjoying the best vegan recipes without delay. Because we will never tire of saying it: eating well, really well, superbly, and without causing suffering is not only simple and easy: it is radically necessary.
